Secondary Education in Modena

At our High School in Modena, Italy, we offer 16 to 18-year-olds an exceptional internationally-focused education. Students can gain an equivalence to the Italian Maturità through their IBDP course selections.

During their time on the 2-year programme, those in Grades 12 and 13 are empowered with a deep understanding of how to critically view and apply knowledge, and responsibly invest in their chosen interests, which may include community service projects, sports pursuits, academic support or creative arts.

We seek to give our High School community the best secondary education in Modena with the support they need to thrive.

High School Programme

Our High School's secondary education is built upon the widely-respected International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which offers three subjects at Higher Level (HL), and three at Standard Level (SL).

Students may decide which subjects they wish to develop based upon their interests and the university entry requirements for their chosen course. Although Higher Level subjects are more in-depth and extensive than Standard Level subjects, students develop a broad range of skills at both levels.

Upon the conclusion of the diploma programme cycle, students are assessed through external examinations. Many subjects also require students to complete coursework that is internally assessed by our teachers and externally moderated by the International Baccalaureate exam board.

High School activities are to be completed as part of a 2-year international course. IBDP students must demonstrate ongoing reflection and analysis. As part of the syllabus, students are encouraged to conduct individual and group project-based activities.

Our High School IB curriculum offers 6 disciplines. Students may choose 6 subjects from these discipline groups to form a tailor-made programme that will also include 3 additional core modules: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS).

University Preparation

At this stage, academic achievement is critically important. However, it is also crucial for students to prepare for life beyond school. We have a history of success in supporting graduates to select and apply their first-choice universities in Europe, the U.S. and the U.K. at above-average rates.

We also offer bespoke careers counselling to ensure soon-to-be school-leavers can fully explore the options available to them as they prepare to flourish in the world beyond our High School in Italy.
