IB Programme

An IB education presents opportunities to develop disciplinary and interdisciplinary capabilities, thereby meeting rigorous standards set by higher learning institutions worldwide.

IB students following the PYP and MYP pathway benefit from a syllabus that delivers modern and traditional subjects in a broad, balanced, conceptual and connected way.

The extensive IB Diploma Programme covers the final 2 years of High School (Grades 12 and 13) and encourages well-informed and inquiry-focused individuals to foster generosity and solidarity with others in their global and local communities.

The Diploma Programme emphasises intercultural understanding, open-mindedness, and respect while also helping students view the world from different perspectives.

Requirements to Study the IB

International Baccalaureate entry requirements differ from school to school.

The IB PYP and MYP routes are suitable for children of all ability levels as comprehensive courses that seek to develop a depth of understanding across the syllabus as well as long-standing study skills. Students applying to G7 and above are required to sit a baseline tests following which additional subject-specific tests may be requested.

IBDP entry requirements are outlined for new students as part of the application process. Existing IB students progressing to High School must demonstrate prior success at the MYP level. They must also be willing to complete the 2-year diploma programme to the best of their ability.

IBDP Subject Options

IBDP subjects include:

  • two languages
  • a humanities option
  • a science option
  • mathematics
  • visual arts or an additional subject from one of the above groups

Lessons are dynamic and may take place across the school, especially during subject-specific sessions. However, much of the learning at school is delivered in spacious, bright classrooms that create an open, exploratory environment to enable student involvement.

Senior High School students are taught Diploma Programme subjects in a wing dedicated to IBDP candidates.

Thanks to a team of highly-qualified IB teachers, we prepare students exceptionally well for academic success in each of their chosen subject disciplines. Teaching staff at our school are inherent to our success as IB educators and they demonstrate a dedication to each member of the student body.

Our well-informed IB specialists also maintain small class sizes to ensure that for the duration of this robust course, all children have dedicated access to their tutors and subject teachers; we aim to ensure that pupils ensure their education to fullest extent; low student-teacher ratios allow for the chance to ask questions, receive assistance and allow potential to flourish.

The IB Diploma certificate is awarded to students who achieve at least 24 points out of a maximum score of 45, provided certain general conditions are met.

The IBDP option is a rigorous course of pre-university study. It is widely accepted as a respected High School course designed for senior students who wish to gain a comprehensive education that offers a global outlook and every chance to progress to the world’s finest tertiary education providers.

At the High School stage, students can gain an equivalence of the Maturita, recognised by MUIR, with careful course selection in the IBDP.

IB assessments are conducted at the PYP, MYP and DP levels to determine if learning objectives have been reached. IBO assessors will mark official papers after IB examinations are taken and students will receive a score based on their performance, where 45 is the top overall score for the IBDP.

At the DP level, each of the six chosen subjects is graded on a scale from 1 to 7; the final combined score incorporates further points earned in the Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay sections.

Senior learners undertaking the DP course will be required to complete a combination of research projects, coursework and formal examinations in the final year of the 2-year international course. Subject-based examinations are invigilated by IB-authorised staff, and an examination schedule will be given to students well ahead of the IB assessment period.
